i always said if anything bites me....it will be a snake!!!!

well, there has been a baby snake i have been chasing from pond to pond...i wanted it gone so it would not get bigger and eat frogs or fish....the other day i found it in my stream, cornered it and got it...or should i say it got me! it did not break the skin and FORTUNATELY was just a harmless water snake. i put it in a pillow case and took it down to the river..

AND....i stayed the night with my hubby at his work and that morning at the pool, there was a baby bat stuck to the wall.....of course you know what i did.....got it in yet ANOTHER pillow case, took it outside of the pool area to a dark mound of bushes and let it go! IT FLEW RIGHT BACK TO THE POOL! madd this time it landed on the second floor wall, so at least no one could bother it or kill it! i figured since it was young, maybe it just did not make it back to the nest....OR IT HAD RABIES! thank goodness it did not get me! prayers sorry the pics are blurry, needless to say i had to get them quick! IT WAS CUTE!

Dang Wendy that was a strange find.. But the good thing is your attempting to send it back to it's natural enviorment, wierd about the bat tho retreating back to the pond area, Maybe the moisture it's attracted to,, why OR maybe it is really a Halloween BAT and likes the way you set up the pond notme

Wendy you are touched !!! grin
The bat you took outside in daylight right? Thats probably why he went back to the pool area, more cavelike.
Heres info from bat conservation .com
Quote
Bats can get the rabies virus, but the incidence of bats and rabies is very low, usually only about one half of one percent of bats tested, test positive for the virus. If you take into consideration that people have a much higher chance of getting attacked by a dog, falling down a flight of stairs, or being struck by lightning and dying than dying of a bat bite you can see that rabies is rare. Chances are even better in winning your state lottery, than getting bitten by a bat with rabies. Here are a few notifiable diseases reported in 1995 in the United States: Chlamydia, 477,638; Gonorrhea, 392,848; AIDS, 71,547; Hepatitis, 41,000; Lymes Disease, 11,700; Syphilis, 68,953; Salmonellosis, 45,970; Whopping Cough, 5,137; E. Coli, 2,139; Malaria, 1,419; Mumps, Measles, 309; Botulism, 97; Toxic Shock Syndrome, 191; Tetanus, 41; Trichinoses, 29; Plague, 9; Rabies, 5; Poliomyelitis, 2.

whoa! that is some useful info! guess my chances of getting rabies is slim, but i am crazy! touched grin

the bat was outside on the wall of the hotel, but in the shade, when i got him, i tried to take him to another shaded part away from the pool, but it just did not work! i was worried that it might be hurt if it stayed there, but they said it was gone the next day! grin
