What did you buy? Are going to buy? or want to buy?

I need to get some more yellow daffodil bulbs to plant. I bought the pink ones last year but wasn't overly impressed with them, the yellow stand out better. They seem to last longer than the tulips as well. Let's get buying, dividing and planting...

Hi Tamara:

How's things down your way?

We've still got warm weather - it's up and down, of course.

Well, I just got a fern - didn't buy it. Somebody left it in its hanger out in the garden. I'm bringing it in for the winter - going to give it my tobacco juice potion and hang it in the lobby of the building here.

I'm not buying any plants. I've got enough stuff to bring in, as always.

Haven't been into my gardening as much in August - right now, I'm just cleaning up - raking, raking, raking - some leaves have fallen, but there's a lot of rubble on the ground. Some parts of the lot, I haven't done anything with at all this summer - it was just too damn hot to be out there, all gung ho like I used to be.

Things up my way are cool and frosty. I think we will have an early winter.

I picked up a small package (6) of mixed colors of double daffodils, and planted them haphazzardly around the outside of my perrenial bed. I was going to get the BIG bag, but I know I would have run out of enthusiasm before I ran out of bulbs to plant. I know in the spring I'll wish I'd gotten more.I do every spring.

Since this is a new garden I went way out with buying bulbs, and I'll be buying summer ones when they come out (cannas, callas, dahlias) and maybe some other roots (I really want a dicentra bleeding heart, will definately get some trilliums too) so far I've bought:

Double Tulips (12)
Narcissus Mix (12)
Muscari (25)
Anemone (30) although I have no idea what to do with these...zone dilemma
10 dutch iris unnamed
8 spring mix dutch iris
8 blue sapphire dutch iris
25 ile de france tulips
5 early mix narcissus
5 king alfred daffodil
15 allium sparkler

I got these from really nice people, one from the Netherlands!
saffron crocus
arum italicum

I know somehow I'll buy more...I tend to just plant about 2/3 of each and give the rest away. I am really *really* proud of these bulbs cuz I bought them with my own money that I made...(pretty much cost a day's 'salary' if you can call it that...the bulbs are cheaper the bigger the package) and I've going to be planting them all myself too. I figured this was a good investment as well...years of flowers even though I'm only living in this house for three more years before university. yeah!

BTW...I will definately be out of enthusiasm before I'm out of bulbs lol

Helping the world one seed at a time

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

hope I can post a picture here Tamara. I like the yellow daffs too. They make such a statement. I've got a few pinkish and ruffled but the yellows do stand out. Here is my walkway.
