I got some black pearl peppers that are a nice deep red...and also two otheer types of ornamental peppers...anyone know of a way I can save the seeds without giving me a heck of a time with the capiscum oil? I am letting them dry out right now

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

I'm intrigued. What kind of problems have you been having? I harvest bell pepper, paparika pepper, and now banana pepper seeds without any trouble that I know of. So I'm interested in hearing what kind of problem you are having.

Kennyso, I collect ripe ornamental peppers for seed
without ever touching them, because I just can't stand wearing gloves. rolz

So - I roll down the edges of a small paper bag,
to keep the top open nice and wide,
then, with my trusty clippers in hand, I simply snip
the fully ripe peppers and let them fall directly into the bag.

**It's important to select peppers that are completely ripe,
and,
**be sure not to fill each bag more than a single layer deep,
or the peppers will get moldy before they can dry properly.

I label the bag, and set it aside in a dry location,
leaving the top open so that the peppers will desicate.

By planting time, they will be nicely dried out,
then I just sort of crumble them, right through the bag,
again without ever touching them.
I close the top of the bag, wrap it in a soft kitchen towel
and gently roll over the towel and all with a rolling pin.

I don't worry about separating the pepper skins from the
seeds, I just sprinkle from the bag directly into my planting trays.

 Hope that helps.

 You're so welcome -
I hope it works well for you,
I'm not really allergic to the capzasin, but
just as sure as I touch a pepper, I will soon after touch
my eye [Linked Image] and EE-YOW-EEE, that really hurts!!
So I just try not to touch them at all.

I am saving some seeds right now .In the sun .
Am wondering if you can pick the seeds up with tweezers.......

Hot peppers bother my fingers and mouth , but only if I try to eat them.
Sorry Ken, we know your love of seeds.
