Our weather is so lovely today that after church I went into the yard. I cut some dead stuff, put it in the compost bin, planted a squash plant that I started on my screened in porch, planted some beets and noticed that the hummingbird feeders were almost empty. As you know I am short and they hang high. Johnny has made me a pole with a nail on the end of it so that I can hook the ring holding the feeder to put them up and get them down. Coming down was no problem. I washed them, filled them, and got 1 back up without a problem. The 2nd one wouldn't go up no matter how hard I tried. I drug a chair around the house, stood on it, still could not get the ring over the curve on the holder. Tried standing on the back of the chair and realized quickly that it wasn't smart, that if I in fact did fall I would push out the screen to my new screened in porch - not to mention I'd get scraped up. All the while the hummingbird food, which is red, sweet, and a little sticky is dripping out all over me. At one point some of it ran down my arm under my shirt. I have 2 hummers buzzing my head and by this time tiny, bees are buzzing around me too. My hand started itching from something I couldn't even see biting me so I decided to get down. Too late. My right arm pit started burning and before I could get myself down out of that chair it was killing me. I yanked my shirt off right in the yard, lifted my arm, noticing that my under arm was very sticky, to find a BEE. It didn't even fly away. I had to pull it off of me. I guess he was squashed because he didn't fly, I threw him on the ground. So now I'm sitting her with an ice pack in my arm pit waiting for Johnny, who is tall, to come home and hang my feeder.

So sorry, Sheri. I am totally sympathetic even though your description was quite funny.
I was once helping a friend move and got that pain in the middle of my back. I ripped off my shirt right there in the courtyard of her apartment complex. I'm glad I was wearing a western shirt because it had snaps. If it had had buttons I would have had a gaping shirt after that. I have no idea who might have seen me shirtless and at that time I could've cared less.
You are not allergic are you?

I'm not allergic.

I'm fixing to have another Cindy moment. I'm going to take a nap.

lol shock You getting stung is not funny at all kissie, but ripping your shirt off in the yard is. Last spring a wasp flew up my jean leg and stung me....LUCKILY for my neighbors I got it to fly out, I was 1.2 seconds away from stripping in my yard myself. Seriously.

Is it very painful? It must be. I hate being stung.

At least now you know not to get up there and try to do it again.

Oh Sheri, my friend, it sounds to me as though you had SEVERAL Afgrey moments all rolled into one heck of a time!!! I'm horrified over stings, so I can't laugh (although the stripping part IS funny!), but only imagine your pain and upset.

What a way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I hope only your good neighbors saw you 'coz your bad ones don't deserve a laugh at your expense!!!

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

We have a fence so I don't think anyone saw me which would have probably scared them to death anyway.

I'm doing fine, no problems. The poor bee did not fare as well though. He was smashed and covered in sticky stuff so he probably didn't make it.

Johnny came home and hung it. I had to make my own this time. I don't think I'm going to use that red stuff again. It stains my clothes.

Sheri, when a bee stings it has too pull off it's butt/stinger in order to get away from you. It cannot live after having stung someone.

So sorry to hear about the sting! I used to get stung a lot as a kid and developed a rather unpleasant allergy to them. I hope you get better fast!! What a terrible spot to be stung!

Wasps on the other hand can both sting from one end and bite from the other with the same results and live to do it again.
I am allergic to a certain type of ant. Not all ants, just one type. So odd.

Ouch, I hate getting stung. Mind you I get stung quite a few times each year.
