I just got 20 stargazer lily roots/bulbs, whatever, and I'm in the house sick again with strep throat. Will they be okay in a cool place in a box for a while?

Another question about bulbs - can I plant in containers and leave the container outside, just as if it were planted in the ground, over winter? I like the idea of having bulbs in containers, then you can move them whereever you want when they are in bloom.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I'm wondering IF you left them in the containers would it be better to bring the container IN like a garage or barn or storage shed of sorts// I know here in TX we leave bulbs in the ground or containers all year round But it never gets as cold here as it does there,, I'm sure your stargazer and other bulbs will be fine untill you get to feeling better Do you have any peatmoss If you do I would put some of it in with the bulbs and put in a dark paperbag,, At least that what I do,, Hmmmmmmmmmm I heard to do that somewhere,, so I do it!

Yes the will be ok. As long as animals dont attack. I stick my seeds and bulbs in hard plastic boxes and the animals have a problem with that .. You have to October and ground freezing to plant the Lilys. Still plenty early. Did the ones I sent you, bloom this year? barb in Pa.

I would say either sink the pots into the ground or keep them in an unheated garage. I want to do that this year...if you start in December...Starting from April, you can start brining some pots in to force! Or you can set them out when it starts getting warmer

Good idea, keep them in the cold garage and then bring them in in April for blooms at Easter?
