Ummm, nervous I really hate to say it,
but it looks to me like that flower bloomed LAST night. shock

Those buds stay very tight before they open.
This is a picture of one of mine "the morning after"

Edit to add:

It took me a couple of minutes to find this pic,
but this is the same flower, the day it bloomed (before),
very tight bud.

Dodge,

I'm sorry you missed the show. You've only got one night to catch it, and it's usually late at night. If you don't know it's happening, it's very easy to miss. I've missed several blooms in the past. I can't tell you the number of times I didn't even know there was a bud let alone that it was blooming until I could smell the perfume from the flower. It's very strong and intoxicating. Mine was kept indoors so the aroma was a dead give away.

I can't recreate the smell for you, but here are a few pictures of what it looks like in bloom.

From what I understand in the epi forum is it blooms around 8 pm& averages staying open 6-8 hours.I have Epi strictum and it opens later more around 11 pm and they last 10-12 hours. If you have other epis in bloom at same time its possible they would cross. My strictum is self fertilie. It also gave a 2nd bloom.I got more seed pods set on 2nd flush(versis the 1st 6 blooms 2 seed pods)I don't recall if Oxy is on self fertilie list. They did the list as all latin names. There are epis that open in day time and some that will hold flowers open 2-3 days.My new cuttings are 3 day bloomers& 1 night bloomer....and not white.

I'd like to have oxy.I do believe its one that will rebloom if happy.
