Small pinkish flowers...makes a seed...where ever a seed falls a new plant sprouts up. The roots are a long stalk like with feeders out. Original plant was dug up from In-Laws cause I liked it. Now, they like all over the place. If I cut off the seed stalk, the plant gets bushy. It will come back from a freeze. Is it a flower or a weed?

Don't know what it is, not familiar with the plant, sorry, but it sure acts like a weed, doesn't it? Sound like you couldn't kill it with a sledgehammer!!

Oops, nearly forgot to add that a weed is simply a plant growing where it's not wanted, so if you like the plant then it's not a weed. Though, it still seems to act like a weed, doesn't it??

It looks like what's commonly known as Jewel of Opar or Talinum paniculatum. They reseed like crazy.

Alan,

You nailed it!! bop Thanks! I "googled" Jewel of Opar and now I know that is a flower and not a weed. Those little seeds (pods) have more tiny seeds inside, no wonder they're sprouting all over the place.
