My husband and I were finally able to start the rest of our yard this year. We live in a small town (Shelby, Michigan) We live right downtown with all the noise and a few unsightly buildings, But we love our house. We started this past
spring with castor bean
seeds and we now have lovely plants that also form a fantastic privacy fence.
We have most of our plants in pots and are hoping to move them into the ground this fall. We have angel trumpets, five or six varieties of grasses, canna, butterfly bushes, spiderwort, and one of my favorite annuals - nasturium.
I do have a question for anyone out there. We live in
zone 5, western Michigan and realized after buying that our pampas grasses are only hardy for
zone 7 and higher. I have read that with extra mulch, we may be able to keep the roots from freezing. Does anyone out there know if this will work or not?
Thanks and am looking forward to learning more about our
flower garden.
