I have dwarf chery trees; so, no need to use poles. But I think balloons attached to the netting will work as well for tall cherry tree...be sure you secure the netting with twines to guide it over the tree, then pull the twines to bring the netting down.
Here's the netting instructions.
For fruit trees:
* wrap around or drape over trees.
*for tall trees: use pole to lift over tree-tops.*gather netting at trunk and secure with twist ties.
* roll back edge of netting for easy harvesting.
For gardens:
*drape over garden and secure with stakes or weigh down corners with heavy objects.
* to protect
seeds,
seedlings and upright plants, elevate netting 6 inches or more above ground using stakes, wire, etc.
for grapes and berries:
*wrap around or drape over grapevines or berry sushes.
* lift netting for easy harvesting.
