well, all day today, my pump has shut on and off like a light switch! what's wierd is when it stops, i start to walk towards the pond, it comes back on !! :why this has gone on all day! the filter is clean, the water flow is normal, the extension cord is fine cuz the other pump is running perfect, and i can't find a short in the pump cord! something else wierd, there is a small snake in there and when i reached for it to get it out, the water lettuce shocked me!!!!!!!!!! i am gonna put the smaller pump in there until i get a new one, but i don't understand what is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is the ghost of the Shawnee Princess, Shockajawea, who drowned in a small pond near your hometown about 1,000 years ago. They say she still haunts small ponds in the area.

If you got a electrical shock you must NOT reach into your pond without first turning of and unpluging the pump..stay safe. It could be a lose wire in the motor.

Becareful! It sounds like the pump has a short in it. If you have fish in the pond they can be affected by the electricity too. You need a GFI on your outlet.

i unpluged it and took it out....put my small one in there but i HAVE to get another one, this will just keep the water moving for now! it was pretty scarey getting zapped by the water lettuce, funny thing though, i did not touch it once, but twice before i realized what happened! i hope the fish were not damaged by this!

What a relief to see your fish! Glad that they pulled through. If it makes you feel any better I probably would've touched the water lettuce several more times before I stopped. I'd been thinking, 'that did not just shock me. Touch it again!'
