I am tired of their high maintenance and it shows, they are not doing well, I fear they won't be of this world much longer. Wondering if there is a Orchid Humane Society that I can surrender them too. I don't know why I got talked into buying them, I am not meant to own orchid.

Just ranting, dumb plants.

I still have all three orchids that Nor sent me. Next year they should be only enough to bloom. Believe me I've got all my fingers and toes crossed. I haven't found them difficult at all yet but I'm sure they are just waiting for the right moment to let me have it.

What are yours doing?

I'm also in to be foster parent for the orchids.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your orchids. I'll be your support group if need to express your feelings, but I can't take them. I have to have easy to care for plants. I will keep your orchids in my prayers.

PS ~~ I've found that if I leave them alone and water them once they're dry, they're at their happiest. I also give them orchid food when they're blooming.

I'm doing a terrible job fertilizing them. They need to be repotted and don't think they like the hard water here, lots of lime in the water. I am basically, neglecting them, I think.

With house plants, I am more of the spider, philodendron, jade plant kind of person, if you kill those kinds of lants, then you should buy silk ones. I'm not quite that bad.

If it helps any, I've found a huge difference in my orchids depending on what they are planted in. The "orchid mix" that has charcoal, wood chips, etc doesn't work for mine. The one I have that has really thrived is in spagnum moss. Also, I've noticed the size of the container seems to make a difference. The smaller, tighter the pot the better. I keep the pot down in a deep dish filled with rocks. I water the plant only slightly, then put about half an inch of water in the dish. The orchid will drink it up from there as it needs it. Hope it works for you.
