I need some help please. I received a purple passion plant. It was doing good, and now I think it's doing bad. I repotted it and now there are leaves dying and they seem to be droopier than they were before. I don't want it to die. Can someone help me please?
Thank You

Passionflowers (if that is what your talking about) do have deep tap roots, so make sure you have it in a deep pot. It may just be going through transplant shock. Keep it out of direct sunlight for a few days and make sure it doesn't dry out while it tries to re-establish itself.

I'm not sure what passionflowers is. The leaves are green with purple and they have little hairs on them. It's really pretty. The roots on it were pretty long and I just put it in new potting soil and now I'm praying it doesn't die. I'm new to this whole plant thing. I'm giving it a whirl.
Thank You

Thank You Wild Willy. I saw the picture and that is exactly the plant I have. I want it to be big and beautiful like that. I'm going to read thru the info on that page and hopefully it'll help me keep my plant alive.
Thanks again.

Tell me what lighting you have it in.and have you had any drastic temp changes? This plant will show change at most changes in enviroments, but recovers most times.3-4 inch tips root easily just getsome thats just getting the woodyness to it. Mines in bright light in the shade.it mostly gets summer rainfall& if seems dry I'll water it.I about cooked it in june the 1st two days we had temps in the 90s.I took a cutting and moved it in deep shade and watered& freshened soil and has perked back up. I've let mine flower once....cause read that it will.I don't care for the flower and it started turning the leaves greener so like the purpleishness better.I sowed the seeds and they grew, gave the pot away.I keep tips pinched for more bushyness and to keep vines off ground(water splashing turns foliage brown)
I will age ungracefully until I become an old woman in a small garden..doing whatever the Hell I want!

I don't have it in bright light. It's in my kitchen window right now which faces east but gets enough light for my hedra ivy and my pothos. I'm really hoping this passion plant will come back to being beautiful for me. A friend of mine at work today cut a few of her vines off of her passion plant here. I have them in water to get the roots growing and then I'll plant those in a pot too. Do I need to let it root in water before I plant it in soil or not? Like I said, I'm new to all of this. Thank You khorysmom

Everyone around here is having trouble with there's including me. I can't keep enough water in the pot. It's just been so hot and dry that it dries out. It prefers moist soil. Mine lives in an east window and likes that fine. They are also heavy feeders but make sure you don't let it bloom. It has stinky flowers.

I haven't had the stinky flowers and from what everyone is saying about them, I'll be sure to chop them off before they bloom, if I ever get them. People at work have them and they are doing great, but mine is not doing so well. I'm hoping that it's just going thru a shock period and will be fine in the end. If not, then I know it's not the plant for me. I got some potting soil that will feed it for up to 3 months. If it gets hungry, let it eat.

Wow njoynit your vines are long. Mine is still just a baby I'd say. I'll take a picture and post it so you can see it. I'm scared it's going to die. I have some in a cup here at work that I took off of someone else's plant. waiting for the roots to grow so I can plant it. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
What is that plant next your purple passion? I like it.

Purple passions are the most picky houseplant I've ever grown (but also the most beautifull)they don't like having their leaves sprayed (misted) but tey LOVE high humidity! a bright window in the bathroom is the very best place to grow them. If they do not get enough light they will grow weak with small hairless leaves and long skinney vines. They only seem to tolerate small amounts of direct light if any. They dont like too much OR too little water. I wait until the moment they start to slouch to water them. Nor do they like to be pruned too much. I once had one with 10 vines over 20 ft long(!), big thick dark purple leaves and vines. Then everyone wanted cuttings and it slowly died (I almost cry to remember). It also had been moved out of the bathroom because ours was too small. I almost wish we had left it in the house we moved from, just because it was soooo happy there! Mabe when your babies are rooted you can experiment with your 2 plants to see what works (then stick with it!!!) Good luck!!

Remember water roots and soil roots are different. So make the transition slowly.

Thank You Emerald. Maybe I'll try and put the one at home in the bathroom. Lots of humidity from the shower. It stays pretty light in there during the day. I'll give that a whirl.
Umm...tkhooper, I'm not sure how to make a transition slowly from water roots to soil roots. Don't I just take it from the water and stick it in soil? If I can just plant the offshoots in soil, I'll do that and make it easy on myself. I appreciate all the help and advice.
Thank You khorysmom

you can take cuttings and put them in soil. Just keep the soil very moist until the roots form and then slowly cut back on the amount of water.

That sounds easy enough. I'm not trying to sound stupid, but if I plant them in soil, how am I going to know when roots form?

It also won't pull out easily when you tug slightly.I just poke mine in soil.I have some in the birdcage planter too.all I did was lay 3 stems in and fill soil on top.besides a few other pots.I would guess should take 4-6 weeks.
