I need help; I noticed the other day that my rhododendron look just awful and I need to know what to do to get it back to looking good. The poor leaves are dropping and crispy looking. I don't know what is wrong with it. I keep watering it every morning and late in the evening and it still looks the same.

Hi, newgardner... My rhoddies were pathetic, so a friend cut the whole 6 ft bush down to the primary branches about a foot from the ground. They came back extremely fast and more lush and beautiful when they first bloomed! Don't be afraid to cut them down. kat2007

I too, have cut mine back to the ground before and they come back better than ever. Is it the entire plant or plants? Wonder if you have some type of disease.

WV has a lot of clay in the soil which holds water. If you are watering twice per day, you may be drowning the plants.
I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!

The whole thing looks as thou it is burnt. I have it in a semi-shaded area. A large tree keeps it shade in the morning but in the afternoon it gets direct sun-light. That is what lead me to believe it has been burnt, because it just happen in one day. We have had several high temp days like in the 100's.I don't know what to do. I had thought about moving it. But my mother says she see's new pods on it and tells me that I can not move it until they are gone. But the poor thing look's as thou it is not going to make it if I don't move it.
Thanks for the help from all.

Mulch might help. We planted a bunch of new ones years ago, and the leaves were wilting in warm weather - in shade - even with daily watering.
Put mulch down, and the leaves perked the next day with new growth in a week.
If you have mulch already, is it all the leaves, or older inner leaves?
Could be associated with root weevil damage too. In that case, you may see some damage just below the mulch or soil line. If that's the case - its a goner.
