Tree House

My daughter, a 'tween' at the time, really wanted a treehouse. We didn't have any trees that we wanted to burden that way so she got a house 'in the trees'. The basic wood was all free from construction friends. As were the windows, cabinets, sink, stove, door, etc. The furnishings were all free from friends also. We paid for nails, nuts and bolts and roofing and siding, insulation, wiring, plumbing, etc. Still need to add on a bathroom and closet.
She will never live in it as originally planned. There are prerequisites to earning the privilege and she's not close. So we have a nifty little guest house.
I don't remember the dimensions. It's close to 15' by 18' with a four foot front porch.
(cross my fingers that I did this right)

You can't see the little fridge in these pictures. The bathroom/closet is going to be through that place where the window is by the mirror in the last picture. It will be a REAL guest house then.

Loz, there is no toilet or shower yet. And a little twist or two for having company here. But for the most part, I would love to see you.
The treehouse is clean. My house is not. I need to do something about that, soon.
It wouldn't have been built if not for free stuff.

Don't worry, since I don't fly the chances of me actually showing up are slim to none---but I wish they weren't.

Diane, I had little or nothing to do with the building of it. John was a high school teacher, retired now. In the summers and breaks he had to DO something, build something, create something. He's a mover and shaker. For a while it was a platform with a rail. Then it had a roof added a few months later. Then is was screened in with shade clothe. Then the walls started going in. It is an ongoing project when supplies and money and time allowed.
Jonni and her friends pitched a tent inside the screened in room and camped out up there a few times.

Huh, Try living with the never-ending building. I moved in and there was a nice biggish house, 3 bedrooms and one closet. I hired builders to put in and 8x8 walk- in and an 8x16 bathroom. Now it is livable.

I wish I had before pics. This area originally had a lot of junk in it, a couple old boats, a gas tank up on a stand (leaky), and various tractor parts and a junker car. We finally got it cleaned out and things to original owners about 17 years ago. Then we dug up a zillion baby eucalyptus trees from a formerly burned grove and planted. I was pregnant with Jonni at the time and she will be 16 on Saturday.
We planted way too close but never planned on letting the groves go past good firewood size. You can cut a eucalyptus down without killing it. It will keep on regrowing. We ended up not cutting for firewood because we got plenty elsewhere. Meanwhile we have these trees way to close together for their own good. So we 'thinned' for this building. We still have a couple other groves with trees too close. The outside trees are huge fat and healthy. The inner trees are skinny and spindly. I can't get John to cut them for anything.

I love it too. Although it will never be completed with a bathroom now. And I haven't been in it for about a year because my older son has all of his stuff stored in there.
