A friend of mine on Birders World forum, took a picture of a beautiful insect that we thought was a beetle. He researched it and found out it is a MOTH! An Ailanthus Webworm Moth, to be exact! I got this picture off the web as his would be a little hard to see on THIS forum. Sure is a Striking insect, though. AILANTHUS WEBWORM MOTH

That is pretty, Thorny. He can come here and eat as many ailanthus as he wants. Weedy, nasty trees. I don't know who named them Tree of Heaven. They stink to high heaven when you cut them. The national forest service is trying to keep them out of the national forest around here.
