Hi, my husband just recently bought me a basket of houseplants, I've slowly been itentifying them. I recently discovered one is an oyster plant. Could you anyone tell me how to care for it. I also have a prayer plant, ivy, Kalanchoe, and dumb cane (I think) They are all in one basket and I'm wondering if I need to seperate them all. It's just so beautiful I don't feel like tackling putting them all in there own pots but I know I'll have to eventually as the Kalanchoe needs to be put in the dark for one month after if stops blooming to encourage new blooms.
the kalanchoe needs to be kept moist. I don't think the ivy likes those conditions so you may want to move it out. I don't know anything about the prayer plant. But there are two different plants that are called oyster plants so you need to work with the latin name there I think. I have the one that is a type of wandering jew. It likes it mostly moist but not as much as the kalanchoe.
could you put them in individual pots and then put them all in a basket and cover the tops with moss so it looks like they are all in the same pot? I've seen that done on gardening programs.
I have a croton that I'm going to put with one of my kalanchoe's as soon as it gets healthy. and I get a big pot for them.
Are you sure you have the Kalanchoe information correct about the environment it needs to rebloom?
Mine blooms just about all summer. This year I messed it up by repotting it after it had started blooming but it's still hanging on to it's blooms it just doesn't have as many as it has in the past.
Could you post a picture of your oyster plant?

Thanks for the thoughts so far, I could have my info wrong about the Kalanchoe. Here are pics of what I think are the Oyster plant and Kalanchoe. Is this a Kalanchoe? And what about this oyster plant?
I'm not sure if this is how you do pics or not. Let me know if they don't come through
the pics are perfect. the oyster plant (and yes, it is one) is in the transdescantia family and they really like a lot of light.
the kalanchoes are beautiful and i wouldn't repot them until they quit blooming. lots of light for them too!
the prayer plant (marantha) isn't as much for full light, but does well with bright diffused light.
i see a deiffenbachia in there as well, and a dracaena. who ever put that basket together did a good job getting compatible plants. just check under the edge of the soil to make sure they aren't tied together. they'll strangle if they are.
and make sure that you don't over water. most baskets like that don't have adequate drainage. stick your finger in, and if it feels moist, wait a day and do that again. when it is dry, then water.
