I want to make her something, but I don't know what.
I could knit or crochet a scarf. Would she wear or like a scarf? why
I could sew her some customwrenniemadethem faux quilt pot holders.
I could paint a little wooden plaque with a nice verse/saying/welcome on it. Do I have enough time for that?
I could crochet her a cute little mouse.
I could make her a bracelet or necklace with glass beads.
someone give me ideas.
If you were my person what would you like?

I guess it helps if you know who I got.
but I'm not telling!!

I realize that we answered yes or no.....and I answered yes...but I would love to have whatever the person who gets me MAKES, or is known for. It's a keepsake, to me, of THEM.

Anything made with kindness and love is on everyone's list Wrennie.

Any of those gifts would be appreciated by your 'Swapper'.

I agree with Tamara!! If you are making something you are doing it with care for the person you have! That usually touches a heart and goes a long way!

I got a flash a little bit ago of something to make for my 'giftee' (Or was that a hot flash?).
I was quite proud of myself. I do need to get some materials, though. Fun, fun, fun.

I will answer your real question as best I can, though.
Scarf- take location into consideration. I live in So. Cal. I love scarves but live in a short scarf season locale. So mine stay in the drawer most of the time. But if your giftee lives a colder climate, you are good to go.
Potholders- are good for most of us that cook. Commercial ones just don't last well.
Plaque- Cool, Idea. Specially if you rev up your particular sense of humor. For Loz I would say something like "Welcome friends!
(Specially if you are bearing food!)

Mouse- My last cat died not too long ago. I haven't replaced him yet because I have a family of hawks move in that would threaten a young one. And the hawks are doing some of a cat's job for me. thumbup Those mice are so cute though. Like Shirley said, anyone would like one of your blind mice, cat or not.
Necklace/bracelet- I love jewelry. I collect lots of it. Love garage sales and such. But I don't wear it. I take it apart and craft other things with it.
More ideas- Glasses cases for the bespectacled.
Steering wheel cover for drivers
Bookmarks for the readers
Visor pocket thing (see steering wheel cover above)
Cell phone case
Any personalized item would be prized
Neck pillow for the infirm (or anyone that travels a lot)
Anyone can add ideas here. If everyone adds a few somethings, people will get a better bead on what would be most appreciated.

officially by september 1, but if you have a self-serve post office, as long as it is out of your hands by labor day, you made the "cut off" and met the rules.

I gave so much of my leftover yarn to the girl on crochetville who had a fire, that I dont know if i even have enough scraps left to make mr mouse! I got the pattern for that one at C'ville. A girl there named Kristi makes lots of really cute critter patterns. All her own original design.

I am. It just makes me itchy. And Mr. Man has allergies that are freaking out: extremely allergic to something at noon and then by bedtime it doesn't bother him. I would love anything on that list. I don't have a cell phone though. They kill bees you know... notme (now I don't sound like some cheapo, bonnie, hillbilly)

OK, so my swappee isnt getting anything knit from me, and maybe not crocheted. You've heard me cry & moan about my sore arms, apparently tendonitis. Well today (long story short) as I caught a falling iron shepherds hook so it wouldnt smack my (repeat well paying) customer in the head, I yanked the living heck out of the tendons in my left arm. (( I saw a flash of white light from the pain. I'm drenched in muscle rub now, like ben gay)) If I can do the craft with one arm you have a chance. If it gets better in a few days maybe I can use 2 arms. tears
I'm still curious about who is allergic to wool though.

No allergies. I thought that question was on the questionnaire.
I'm so sorry you hurt yourself, (re-hurt?) Wrennie. Sudden movement is a killer. The crafted item is not a necessity, as per the rules. And will be understood by whomever you are "gifting", I'm sure. We got a bunch of super people on this.

owwwwwwwwwwww, Wrennie: ya know--my mom ended up in the hospital because she messed up her mucsle & such---did this a month ago and it got no better (but then when you deep clean & can thinks fron your garden---) so then, last week, she either re-pulled something OR over-did & compressed her spine (waiting on bone scan now)--anyway, I know wht over-doing can do--so please rest for as long as it takes--we all will understand---

and BYW: not alergic to wool here
