Its been 9 days and my pansies have started sprouting. I had them in direct sunlight and im suprised they have come up because they need darkness to germinate. Has anyone managed to grow pansies from seed?

I have grown pansies from seed..
(or were they viola's maybe)
one time..

I remember that year the weather was funky
and starting seeds were tricky *I start all of my seeds,
in a greenhouse, outdoors.. but I have no heater in there
so, if it goes back to a cold snap, I run into trouble...*

But once they germinated.. they grew wonderfully..
Great lil'plants and I was quite happy with them...

What colors did you get???

I bought the giant swiss mix ones. I think they are a mixture of colours and they have black in the centre.

I always start my pansies from seed and they do great, but I did cover mine with newspaper until I saw them coming through. I bought the ones with the low stems because of the wind in our area and they did just great last year.
