I have cactus soil, but was wondering if that mixed with either gravel or sand may be better for them.

Mostly anything coarse, or sandy... very quick draining, as lithops don't like to be wet for long...

Ok then, I will use some old aquarium sand and mix it in with cactus soil. 50/50 mix good?
