I had to go to the pricey nursery on Saturday, because they are pretty good at identifying plant and tree problems. Anyway... even though I never ever RARELY buy any plants at that nursery, I always like to look around and get ideas. Well.... for the first time EVER, they were having 50% off on all annuals. I really didn't want any annuals, especially at this time of year, BUT... they had a bunch of really nice succulent plants out on the sales tables! EUREKA! I collect succulents, and grow them indoors during winter.
I also found some ornamental grass out there, that had tags that said hardy to zone 5, and I'm in zone 6 and am growing some already - PERFECT for around the pond!!! Oh, and some variegated sedum that the young girl kept insisting isn't hardy here - ok, then why have I been growing that exact plant here for about 5 years or so now without losing it? Got 4 of those babies to plant on the hill of the waterfall of the pond!
The icing on the cake? Don had bought a lot of expensive pond equipment there, and joined their buyer's club - we get another 10% off on all purchases, so I actually got them for 60% off! And a free hat for Don! Bonus!
awesome deals n a extra 10% off! those look like nice healthy plants for being on sale, lucky you! most plants that go on sale need some TLC, but those look great!

Don had to go to the nursery yesterday to get some special tape for the pond, so of course I just HAD to tag along!!!
I managed to buy 9 more plants at 1/2 off! Three are hanging alternantheras - I had never heard of nor seen these before, and 1 upright alternanthera. Some more succulents, which I posted up in the cacti and succulent forum, and a couple more variegated creeping sedum for the hill of the waterfall by the pond.
Red Thread alternanthera
"Partytime" alternanthera - the pink is so bright on it!
