Just to clear this up for everyone. You are NOT required to make anything for your secret gifty person. That ? in the questionnaire which asks if you'd like something, does not gaurantee you'll get something made by your gifter, and does not require the gifter to make something.
Some people may even say no, not because they think your work isnt good but because they want things for thir own projects more. Like ~NL , some people just don't have time right now to make something. And some projects take longer to make than the swap time alloted. You can even join this if you dont know how to do any aort of craft. {See the question that asks if you'd like to start a craft.}

Sign ups will be taken until August 17 as per Momma mouses instruction. Plenty of time to join! Welcome aboard Tina!

The questionnaire has been started in another post and sticky'd to the top. Please only answer the questions in that topic. Leave more ideas and comments down in here.

and the rules once again;
Gift Swap Rules

If you would like to participate, please read the rules, then send Jiffymouse a pm with Craft Swap for the subject line, and your address (if I don’t already have it) along with your email address. Phone numbers are nice, but not required. Also the words "i agree to follow the rules" in the body. here are the rules:

1 - all members must be signed up by August 17.
2 – post your answers to the questionnaire in //www.agardenersforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/101486/gonew/1#UNREAD
3 - names will go out by pm on or before [color:#ff0000]to be determined

4 - all gifts must be mailed out by September 1, failure to do so will make you ineligible to participate in future gift swaps and could result in other penalties
5 - in the event of disaster striking you before you can mail out your box, notifying Jiffy as soon as possible will preserve your ability to play in the future. don't laugh, it could happen. we had 2 in another swap. please include the reason, even if it is just "i got snowed under and couldn't do it"
6 - gifts should be mailed with a tracking number when possible (even the post office offers that for only about 50 cents more) BUT...
7 - if you order your gift to be "direct shipped" please pm me when the order is placed, with the company name so i can post "so-and-so's gift has been ordered direct ship".
8 - finally - just like last time, that there is no specific amount, but please be mindful of other's budgets, and please make sure that you would be happy if you got what you sent out. if in doubt, $20-$30 VALUE is always a safe bet. and value is much more important than cost.
9 - post that you received your gift as soon as you get it, but at least within 3 days. pictures are great if you can!
10 - the administration of this board reserves the right to amend the rules as necessary. [/color]

back to fat quaters
When you go in a fabric store and buy fabric right off the bolt {those big rolled up "spools" of fabric you can get yards and yard or just a small piece from} you can buy 1/4 yard. It will be 9" {1/4 of 36"} by the width of the fabric, commonly 45". A fat quater {1/4} is cut 18" x 22" so its more like a half yard cut in hald widthwise and twice the width therefore fat. And 1/2 of a 1/2 is a 1/4.

For a better visual:
Take a sheet of paper,
does everyone have a sheet of paper?
OK
fold it in 1/2 the long way then 1/2 again still the long way. Unfold it and you have 4 columns. One of those columns is a 1/4 {as in yard} take another sheet, fold the it in 1/2 the long way then 1/2 down when you open it you have 4 squares, 2 on top 2 on bottom, one of those squares is a fat quater.

Good question Wrennie. I guess I have always used the wooden ones. I will go and add that to my questionnaire.

Wood with the screw for me....I think I lost my old ones when we moved because they aren't in my big crafting basket.

Thank you wrennie for asking that. I wondered too. And sizes? Shapes? There are lots to choose from.

I see scrapbookers are asking for paper sizes. Very helpful, thanks.

For those who give a T-Shirt size: is the size given a ladies or mens? why

There's a big difference. grin

Please remember
Looking at the wish lists may be overwhelming. These lists of 10 things are only guidelines. You don't have to get everything on someones list. If you see one thing you want to get, good.
I used to go through catalogs at Christmas and circle all the things I really liked. A LOT of things. Mom would then go through and pick out the 1 or 2 things she liked (or could stand) and get me those. That way she knew it was something I would like and not something that would sit in my closet untouched. And I had so much picked whatever i got would still be a suprise. That's what the 10 item wish list is like. K?

Maybe that person will just print it out and highlight your answers? I always wind up writing down what my person wants and carrying it with me. That way if I see something I think they may like, I can look over their list before I purchase the item.

Not to worry I too made a mistake. I did not answer one of the questions and then I thought oh well, I will "add" a comment when i think of it--well That is not gonna happen---so I guess it is what it is---we can always ask "around" later if we are curious---right???

Mom would've played probably but she's leaving for England soon for 6 weeks. It's a shame, she makes wreaths and crochets.
