I have various seeds I would like to start and have a metal tray, say approximately 24" across, by 8" deep. I drilled holes in bottom for drainage. I thought this may turn out to be a good seed tray, planting various seeds, then leaving outside as the weather is warmer.

Here's my question. Unfortunately I have inquiring squirrels learking (ph) around daily. I have plastic gutter cover I was thinking about placing on top. Or maybe getting chicken wire fencing. My concern is when these little babies pop up, they may get tangled in the wire. I have to use something to keep the squirrels out. :shck:

Suggestions, comments? flwr

I like the idea of the chicken wire, I figure the holes should be wide enough for your saplings to get through, and when it's time to transplant, possibly just use some wire cutters to get the chicken wire off?
