1. The old chest is covered with an old world map! It has brass fittings.
I love the clasp and the lion's heads with rings hanging from their mouths!
I cannot remember what my son gave me, in it, but I have the chest on my bookshelf!!

2.I saw this covered wagon and really wanted it, so they gave it to me for Christmas one year! It has all kinds of neat things on it; shovel; sacks of flour etc. and the other side has more, like a rifle and real bone powder horn.

3. I made a mattress and pillows covered with 'ticking', which is what the women used then, and took with them moving west. Also made a little quilt!

4. I don't know if any of you ever looked through one of these before, but when I was a child I spent HOURS in the library looking at boxes and boxes of pictures through one of these!!! Now you can hardly find either one.
My son found this at a flea market or something; he took it all apart and cleaned it and varnished it. Isn't he sweet?!!

5. Also, with it he found me a few picture cards for it, on Ebay!!

So these are my most unusual, and favorite, Christmas gifts I have received from my sons and their wives!!
I have more pictures of this stuff but since I could only choose five to show you, this is it.

Thanks everyone!!!

Hey, Wendy, I'm glad you know what that viewer is like!!!
I used to spend many hours on a Sat. afternoon sitting in the library looking through one of those!!!
They had two or three of those laid out on tables and shelves of boxes of pictures!!! Now you can't find any pictures at all!!!
I think I'll ask my librarian here, if they might have some stached in an archive or something.
