The further misadventures of Wild Willy, the Hillbilly Gardener

Episode #12... Inside the Living Room

It will take a year or two before the Living Room's plants have settled in to their new environment, and are looking their best but I know that I would never hear the end of it if I didn't show you a few pictures of what it's like on the inside.....

Through the arbor entry

My Living Room

Outside, looking in

The Living Room is a great place to sit and enjoy a morning cup of coffee, watch the sun rise, and listen to the birds singing. There are times, however, that you may have to duck to avoid being hit by the Hummingbirds as they battle for control of the area. I've watched eight Hummers sparring with each other as I sat there. Once the Honeysuckles cover the roof I'm certain there will be even more of them.....

Rufous Hummingbird

Goldflame Honeysuckle

To be continued......

Willy's enjoying the birds!

It appears that my Hummingbirds have been doing quite a bit of "propagating"...
During this afternoon's R&R in the Living Room I was greeted by more hummingbirds than I've ever seen in one place at one time...
Far too many to even try to count!
I had to fill all 3 feeders twice...
The feeders in the Bird Garden were nearly as busy...
It sounded like I was sitting next to a bee hive...
...and I loved every single minute!!!

Hi Bill,
HOW do you keep the wild life from eating all your plants in the living room?

I have trouble with Steller's Jays and squirrels digging and burying seeds under the moss, and I have to deal with slugs (I HATE slugs! mad ), but the deer that have wandered into Hummingbird House have just walked in, looked around, and left without doing any harm. (They have, however, kept my plum trees down yonder, pruned very close to the trunk for the past 3 years though...) Duh
