Remember last year when my brother in England took my dad to the Copocabana Beach in Brazil, South America?

Well I just got a postcard from him.....They are in lake como , Italy! shock clap Where George Clooney has a house, and Richard Branson.

He said that he's staying at the same hotel that they stayed at 43 years ago. Sunny weather and mid 80's. And he's practicing his Italian. lol

How cool is that! He's just a regular jet setter the past few years. thumbup

He always LOVED Italy so much. Was one of his favorite places.

I wanna go too! lol

Diane, I'm sure he will be going thru the villages....my dad is very independent and even if Pete didn't go with him he'd go stroll around the area....and I'm sure they rented a car while they were there.

Dad LOVES Italy. He went several times when he was younger. thumbup

Can't wait to see all of the pictures he's taken.

Very cool Loz! I bet he is really enjoying the trip!! James' mom is Italian and still has relatives in Italy. Some of her siblings have gone over there to visit but she has not. I told James that we should take her there sometime! It would be very cool!!

Valarie went there when she was in college---it was a school sponsored trip. It was wonderful--and I only saw the photos and some video. I can only imagine the actual being there---I am so happy for your dad.--Does your brother travel alot?? It is so very nice of him to do this.

My brother and all of his kids are very well traveled. They have trips all over the place. Switzerland, China, US, Spain, Italy, etc.....although my brother works a LOT...so a trip like this with dad is pretty rare now.

Lake Como looks so nice in the pictures though.....very beautiful and relaxing. I think I could handle it. lol

I only wish I had the financial means to do something like that for dad. I'm glad Pete can do it though.

Got another postcard from Dad today. They had a 2 hour boat trip around the lake and visited the town of Bellagio. He said there were a lot of expensive shops there.

The hotel that he is staying at sounds lovely. He said that it's top class and that it's all you can eat 3 times a day and a free bar. He wrote the postcard while sitting on their private balcony overlooking the lake.

My sister was a little miffed that she hasn't got one, but I told her that he knows my address.....I mean I live across the street from him. But he probably didn't have hers with him. Mom probably has it written in her little book. And Mom isn't with him. She's at her sisters house until Tuesday. Haven't talked to her now for 2 weeks. Might call her on Wednesday.

On a plus though I have talked to my Nana twice. She said that they had a good time and went to see Mama Mia one night. Her health isn't so great anymore though and she's always in so much pain and I hate that because she's very independent and active. Or she used to be.

It sounds like your father is having a wonderful time, Loz! I am so happy for him! A hotel like that would be swell, wouldn't it? I mean, absolutely no worries and being treated like royalty. How fun!

I'm sorry your Nana is in such pain.

Let us know when you talk with your mom. We miss her so!

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Thanks Merme. I just can't wait to hear all about his trip. And see all of the pictures. Before he left I cleaned off his memory card for him. thumbup

Nana is in her 80's now and just has all kinds of general aches and pains and arthritis and stuff. I think it's been worse on her since Granddad passed away last year.

Nan said that Mom and my Aunt Linda have been going out a lot...which is good because mom is too much of a homebody at times. So I'm glad she's having a nice visit.

EXACTLY! lol My nana said to me---if I can do it by myself then you can do it. And I was saying, yeah you're right---but in the back of my head I was thinking, heck NO....I can't get on a plane. Especially not after seeing all of these things on the news about plane wrecks and such. nervous Plus it's expensive. I think $1200 per person round trip. Too much for us to pay.

I talked to mom today for the first time since her first week there. She just got home from her sisters house. Sounds like a good time. She went to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and rode one of the rides I used to go on as a kid. Now my mom never even went with us as kids. She wanted us to have more money to spend so she'd stay home and Dad would take us. She is NOT a ride person or an amusement park person. So when she told me she rode it I said NO WAY you did NOT! haha

It's called the ghost train. Here it is, it has a little drop halfway thru it! Youtube has a video of it. I would've paid money to see mom on that. haha She said it cost THREE pounds to go on each. That's almost $6.

She said it's overcast and cool there today.....I said surprise, surprise. lol
