I need to go to Target soon - we got some red towels for Amy, since she changed her mind from green to red with the white and black, and they are on sale this week and I want to get an adjustment - every penny helps, right? Plus the printer that I've been thinking of getting (NO I still have not gotten a new one many months later!) is on a great sale price there this week as well - I just hope they have one left by the time I get there!
So I will wish you all a great and restful Sunday and I'll see you later!
Last weekend Maxi drove my entire family nutz using the word "epic" as an expression. He knows what it really means, but he was using it as a verb, adjective, adverb, a noun -- anything he wanted!! So when he went to his dad's (and I thought I'd be hearing the last of that word!) he convinced his little brother that they should form an "Epic Squad" and so the two of them have been driving everyone they know batty using that word 18 million times in every sentence!
It's EPIC, I'm telling ya, just plain EPIC!!

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Lynne ~ I hope you see this post when you get back; I didn't see your question right away about Maxi's visit to Long Island.
Our young friend Mike from CT will be attending college there as a freshman, so Maxi is going along for the big Move Into The Dorm event. He will love going to Long Island and visiting the campus and getting a feel for what Mike will be doing this year.
Mike's younger sister, Lori, is planning to take Maxi shopping for school things while he is in CT. Lori has quite a fashion sense and Maxi is hoping she will help him develop a "cool" style -- whatever that means! Right now he still dresses like a "kid" but he is hoping to find a path into "teen" that suits him.
I can't believe he will be 13 in October!

wow! he's 13 already? i'm in shock he has really grown up.
he will make the transition, but with matthew, it didn't hit until he was 14. it gave me one more year of my sweet boy before hormones hit. i hope for your sake, you get that extra year too merme.
Maxi seems to be impatient over the "growing up" issues, Jiffy. He keeps comparing himself to other boys he knows and then he frets. I wish he would just relax!
I've been concerned about my skills to parent him through such a difficult phase of life (which made me so miserable when I went through it myself!), so I've been talking with more experienced parents and even our priest. Most of the advice has been along the lines of "it's awful, but you'll do okay!" and that's not exactly what I've been hoping for! I think I want a magic wand I can use over Maxi's head to smooth the way for him a bit.

merme, we all want that wand. i still want it but, because of maxi's sweet nature, even with the impatience on his part, i do hope you get that extra year.
it did make the hormonal issues easier to deal with. now, the bad attitude and mouthiness, i can't help you on that is part and parcel of parenting a teenager, i'm afraid. and your friends are right, you will do fine. BECAUSE, you do seek out help and advice and have the wisdom to only use what is helpful and discard the rest.
I think I will put your post in a file to keep forever so when he is acting all hormonal and testy, I can remind myself of what you said!
