I had plans. My laundry is going well. I shopped for a couple of necessities. I planned on going outside to work but my enthusiasm is waning. I at least need to bring in wood. The sky is lowering and it is actually getting cooler instead of warmer. It won't reach yesterday's high of 64*.

Dad has some kind of coal oil heater I think it is in his green house. I will have to ask him what he uses.

Yup, that's the problem...I've wanted to make one forever but discourage myself when I think of how much it'll cost.

Last night I discouraged myself again on the idea lol I just can't see spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a small greenhouse. I might try comeup with a plan for mini domes...I need it only for tomatoes and peppers.

Good morning everyone, coffee is on and bacon is frying...I'm slow going this morning.

I live on a hillside. A neighbor put up a jaccuzzi and put a 3x3 ft solar panel downhill of it with pipes running to and from the jaccuzzi. He got a siphon effect on the water and it began. Cold sinks and heat rises. So the cold water ran down and heated through the pipes under the collector panel and then, heated, they ran back up to the jacuzzi. If he didn't stay on top of the on/off thing the water in there would reach nearly boiling. But that could be controlled with a fairly simple thermostat gizmo.
I have been interested in solar heating and cooling for greenhouses ever since. I also don't like to use power for anything and pay those bills.
My problem with a greenhouse here is wind. They just can't withstand what we get whistling through our canyon (50+ mph today). If you grow a strong enough windbreak then you defeat the sunshine thing you are trying to harness for your plants and for the heat.
I would love a greenhouse mostly to protect from that same wind. A conundrum.

Wow Tina....my worry is that we get hail storms here....panels wouldn't last long.

Solar power for electrical and heat would be nice as you say thumbup

I could easily do wind power but the cost of the windmill and turban and such would not be effective for over 20 years.

My outdoor bathroom;
I have a large square planted around it with for 'walls' of heavenly bamboo (nandina). The sink fell over so I need to fix that as soon as the winds die back. I want to put an arched arbor over the 'door' and I have plans for further 'furnishings'. I will post pics as it progresses. But it has been on hold for more clean up around here and stocking up on firewood. It is my reward for getting other not-so-fun projects finished.

Tamara, I bet your hubby did mean it as a compliment. Mine's always telling me how he thinks of chub as curvy and loves it.

Hi, Cheryl. Back when I was around 4 my Dad sent my mom a post card from Reno, Nv. while he was on a business trip. It had a picture of a slot machine with a bunch of money in it in a huge glass bowl
On the back he wrote, "This is what a million dollars looks like. I would trade our love in for it any day". He meant otherwise (wouldn't) and she knew it but it was very funny. She saved the card. A compliment can come in funny forms.
I have had a busy productive day. And I am tired even with the clock changes. Good night all.
Did everyone check their smoke detectors too!

hello everyone--I dont think we need to check our smoke detsetors anymore.
They are wired into the electrical system & so they dont run on batteries--
but I do worry about what happens in the case of a power outage, ya know ???

Tamara I still say you might look into adding a few windows to a corner of the barn that could be given up to you for a greenhouse. 2 walls would already be installed that way right????

Ours is wired in with the security system as well But we also have the battery operated ones as well. We figured it was better to have a back up or a starting one the catches the smoke before it gets to the wire(s) nervous

Oh my...there's no room in the barn for anything. All our equipment has to be stored inside as well as all the hay. We're lucky there's room for the animals lol

Congrats on a new baby and a growing family, Tamara.
I woke one minute before my alarm was due to go off. I didn't bother putting wood on the fires as it is going to be a beautiful day.
Many hardwired smoke detectors have a battery back up. And the thing is to test them to make sure they work.

I am dropping in to drop out again. A long day had and more on the way. But the time change has not messed with me much at all. I guess missing a couple days of naps was a good thing.
Good night all.

We actually get a lot of quakes. I don't worry about them too much even if I can feel them. This one I didn't feel at all but knew it would be in the news some places. It certainly dominated our news.

It is remarkable how much better my vision is in my now good eye.. can see the newspaper now to read it... can't wait till other one is done and the vision is good in both eyes.. will be nice to go outdoors again- glare is a big problem right now but hopefully wo't be after...
Well off to go get my oatmeal... then my shower so I will be ready for Nicoli...
Have a good St Paddy's Day all... tomorrow is our anniversary too and the next day is Joe's birthday... he is going to bbq us a steak ,, first one since we started our diets...
