As I sit here watching A Christmas Story I began to ponder what it was that everyone REALLY wanted for Christmas when they were little. The one thing that was more important to them than any other thing! Like Ralphie and his Red Ryder BB gun. Did any of you have anything like that?
I was 7 with my toy. It was my Pound Puppy Ruff. Dad put him down in the very bottom of the bag so he was last. It will always be my favorite present, over any of the other expensive stuff I got over the years. Still have it too.
I think it's funny how throughout most of our childhoods one gift always stands out as the favorite of all time! And it's great that you still have Louie!
Oh Cindy--that IS sad--I think I would of broken the horses haed open to get my key---if he was bad well then so could you be.
when I was small-(under 6)- I told my mom I wanted a Tiny Tears Doll. She had boughten me my Christmas gifts already, so no luck there--but My grandma gave her to me----- what is significant about that is all the other grandkids got things like little plastic games & such--(you see, there were a LOT of grankids) but I got the doll. I was so happy--and I loved that doll---I had her, broken arms and all, for a very long time.--but my mom who LOVED to clean house when we were not at home, put her in our damp and wet cellar. so one day when I was in College she told me that everything got wet and she was moldy so they threw her away.-- I guess I should of gone down & gotten her when I first found out where she was--but I guess I thought it would be ok??
Kinda like my Barbie with the brown "bubble cut" that she made me give to another little girl--I knew even then that she was something to be kept.
I think that is one of the reasons I saved all my kids stuff---
but oh well--it is sure funny what we remember, huh???

I don't remember ever getting anything that I really wanted. but one of my very favorite christmas gifts was a pogo stick. I thought it was a really dumb gift when I unwrapped it, but once I started jumping on it the whole garage filled up with neighbor kids that wanted to try it out. It turned out to be a very fun toy for a very long time.

I don't know what I would say my all time favorite gift was but I was so very happy when I got a Cabbage Patch Doll. My sister and I used to collect the Garbage Pail Kids cards too.
I never had a pogo stick but I had a Skip-It. My friend broke it once when we were playing with it and I was so mad because my mom wouldn't tell her mom that she had to buy me a new one.
I collected them too Jess, I still have them in my scrapbook. Tons of them!
Here's me with Ruff...of course he look pretty good for being 25 years old and loved to pieces. I cried on him a ton of tears when I was younger, and told him secrets in his big floppy ears(when I was little of course). The next Christmas I got him a wife---Fluff.....Unfortunately she got lost during a move and I can't find one just like her on ebay.

Carol, I'm almost looking! It's so hard to tell on ebay. I thought I found one years ago just like Ruff (for Athena), but he was different when he got here. But I'm still looking for poor Fluff.
Cricket, Atari was cool! We got a used Atari system from a neighbor one summer. But one big Christmas I got Pitfall for it. And I played the heck out of that game! We had lots of games though. River Raid and Frogger were 2 of my favorites.
