lol I saw that earlier too!

I like the weather in the fall but don't like the idea of winter coming soon after that. rspb

I figure that Tam doesn't have much of a fall at all. Probably a few days and then BAM right into snow and winter. lol

I like Fall, but it just never seems that long. Fall and spring should both be a little longer. thumbup

Well, there's no flies in the Fall....I've been eaten half to death in the past week. lol

To tell you the truth Fall weather is already started upon us...it's freezing here in the evenings now. The first of the winter isn't so bad...until January hits, then window shovelling will be upon me again.

Even though Winter always follows....it's worth it to know that Fall comes first thumbup

It's also been cold here in the evenings for the past week or so, Tamara.
Down in the 50's and Don still insists on keeping the windows open at night - I am absolutely freezing every night now! Even with 2 blankets and socks!

I hope you get a pretty and long fall this year.

Tam, it's not literally freezing there yet is it?

Hard to believe that Winter used to be my fav. season. That was in school when we'd get snow days. That's probably why I liked it so much. haha

Not literally but close...every annual is dead now and only the tough perennials are holding on. The trees have started changing colours.

I played it smart this year and planted my sunflowers against the house so they get protection...I think I might get a few blooms soon, they are making heads...and are a whole 2 and a half feet tall, tallest ones we have ever seen lol

We'll be seeing snow flurries in a little over a month.

Oh my...........I can't even think of snow flurries yet. lol

Ever thought of Perennial Sunflower Helianthus Maximillianii?

I have some of that in my garden and I believe it's hardy to zone 3.

hmm, not sure on that plant Loz...I have tickseed or tickweed whatever it's called, it blooms til frost. Like a mini sunflower.

I have more blooms than anyone else here because I cut things back hard...I'll get second blooms out of plants that most people only get once. In fact, I have a rugosa rose bush full of blooms again, people even stop to check it out(it's on the edge of my lawn by the road). ;lol:

Well, my fall will go til about the middle of October than the snow will start acting up..so about a month and a half of real fall weather usually. Some years the snow starts early..some times late.

One year..we only got our first real snowfall Christmas Eve night then it melted and started up again after New Years. We almost had a green Christmas, my grandmother was shocked...I was outside tying up her shrubs on new years lol but that year we had alot of freezing rain...it was the strangest winter ever.

Then I've also seen us having to wear snowsuits for my birthday party as a child...and that was for Oct.10th.

Good grief. I'm still running the air conditioner. It's HOT. How in the world do you guys get tomatoes and cucumbers to grow. Ours take a while to ripen up. I still have green tomatoes on the vine. (don't tell cindy)

As for snow days Loz. I always get in trouble snow days

We don't lol We have to plant cherry tomatoes to get some to ripen on the vine and pluck the green ones to ripen in the house. We also grow pickling cucumbers instead, they grow faster. I buy most of my produce at a market where it's shipped in from Ontario.

Most things can't or won't grow very well here but we try. Most things have to be planted with plants instead of seeds as well, tomatoes, peppers, onions etc...would never grow from seed.
