Mom gave me some white gladiola cuttings and so I went around and cut some more stuff out of my yard and put them outside on the coffeetable. They had bugs and spiders in them so I figured I'd enjoy them while I sat outside.

It's not fancy, just stuff I cut and stuck in there.

Show me your cut flowers!

Looks nice Loz.
although they look nice, and can make a house look warm and inviting,,,
I never cut mine,, ever ... just to bring in the house,, For me personally that's just not something I do, I never buy cut flowers nor do I send them to anyone, and prefer not to receive them,. It's like cutting off fingers to me,, boohoo I guess I'd have to say I prefer looking at them the way nature's life cycle intended,, and the added plus to that is seeds for the next year that are sure to be viable, having time to absorb the energy naturally provided for them. I have to admit tho I've seen some very artistic cut flower arrangements,, it's just not something I want to do, boohoo

Very nice Loz. I cut flowers all the time. I love flowers in the house.

Hey your mom will be gone for 7 weeks...I bet there's lots you can cut from over there...she's not around to notice lol

I'll get some if it stops raining...my coneflowers are soon gonna get a good chop.

You are so right! I can cut her flowers, I never thought of that! She has LOTS of roses too! grin That's why she cut her gladiola's for me, since she'd be gone and nobody would be around to enjoy them.

Diane, I used to never cut my flowers ever....then I figured what the heck. Lots of them are flowers that just keep reproducing like crazy. Like Zinnia's, if you cut them they just put more and more flowers out. I actually grow some behind the birdhouse just for cutting.

And certain things, like the hydrangeas have so many huge blooms that cutting a few from the back isn't even noticeable. I love flowers in the house. In the winter I buy the clearance bouquets at Walmart just to have some inside.

"It's not fancy, just stuff I cut and stuck in there." That's the best kind of arrangement in my mind.

Diane, I'm exactly the opposite. I cut flowers all the time. I, like you, love seeing them in the yard or hillside or wherever but I think cut flowers make a home. I also use my good china (which isn't that good anymore) everyday, use the new towels everyday (so I never have great looking guest towels). use the real silver all the time and so on. Shelley, my oldest, still has her china in boxes after 12 years. Not me. I'm eating off mine.

I am so jealous of your yard though. (probably your guest towels too)

Sheri, you know what. If I had fine china I'd use it everyday too. Life is too short not to. But when we registered for our wedding I decided not to get any china. Figured why get fancy stuff to sit in a display. Back then I didn't think about using it each day. Now I would.

You have any flowers stuck in a vase?

Well I DO cut flowers and bring t hem in---but I have none cut right now.

About my china, sliver and good glasses....................

I do not use them for every day--but I have no qualms aobut using them jsut because I want to or because I am having some company---I used to savwe it all for say a holiday meal--but decided yea life is too short, so I use it all more now.--including my flower vases. Bought a new bud vase just the other day!!!---

and when I left Friday AM I had 2 small vases with cut flowers in them.
Valarie used my house for a Mary Kay Cosmetics party on Saturday & when I got home the flowers were gone---so I am guessing they were spent by the time she left on Saturday evening. why

I used to be so proud of all my fine crystal stuff that we got when we got married. then we had kids and stuff started slowly getting broke. that's when I realized life was too short. I brought all that pretty stuff out and started using it all the time.
I'll have to get a pic posted of my flower vases. don't get too excited folks. it won't be anything as pretty as Loz's. he he. I have many zinnia's though. after I cut and put in a vase and they die, I either sprinkle the seeds in the flower beds or put in a basket I have out on the porch for seeds for next year.

Well Loz, I'll gather my arrangement later and post a pic. My flowers are blown to the ground, may as well do something pretty with them.

I don't have any good china, crystal or silver. Maybe someday....as for now, my flowers sit in vases from the $1 store lol
