I was given a 4 year old Cackatile today people couldn't (wouldn't) take care of it. A woman at work knew the people and brought him to me they call him Pretty Bird but I will rename him later. They said he is wild and cannot be handled .


Looks to me like he can be he like to sit on my arm and love Trent and Wolfman. He is very friendly and talks some mostly says pretty boy hold a phone up and he will talk into it . Also he has a spoon he talks to very sweet and cute bird.

My Times Warner has been of all week for the most part this is the longest I have been able to be on.

Oh Jimmy - he is very pretty!!! Reminds me of the 2 that my dad had when I was away at college. I am sure you'll have him "eating out of your hands" in no time - you have such a wonderful way with animals!

gosh! very pretty bird! he does have his feathers ruffled up though. what does it mean when they stick them up like that on top of their head? I recently adopted an 'untameable' parakete. I'm starting to learn what the feathers slicked down or fluffed up means in regards to her moods. my 'wild' one will only sit on my finger for a brief moment so I'll leave her alone. she still don't like it yet!

I met the little cockateil this morning at work. He really is a sweet bird, Jimmy held his cell phone up to Pretty Bird's face and he started talking when Jimmy put the phone down and moved away from cage Pretty Bird moved to the side of the cage closest to where we were standing. I told Jimmy I bet he could train him to have a pretty good vocabulary,, What I liked about his coloring is the bright orange spot on the side of his face and his bright yellow feathers on top of his head,, But Jimmy explained the colors will eventually change and fade with age,, these colors show he is still young,, it's really too bad that people get a pet and fail to give it adequate attention and nourish it's intelligence ... he could have learned so much more by now,, but Nowwww,, I bet Jimmy will train him just fine .
I told Jimmy You can tell those people that had him didn't care,,,,,, they gave him up with out even a whence,, OR paperwork ( vet, eating habits, characteristics, Nothing ,, No info at all other than he would not perch on anyone
Good Point Jimmy having him already perch on your arm,, just goes to show a little positive attention goes a long ways!

Thanks Lynne, Cricket and Diane he is pretty already spent the afternoon on my shoulder going through the house. Am trying to post a video I made of him and me with my web cam. All this baby needed was a little attention. Him and the other 2 birds talk up a storm. Cricket I have been told when the top knot feathers are up like that they are healthy and alert and paying attention it is also when I can handle them best. If the feathers are laid back I have gotten some pretty nasty bites from birds in the past. They are not happy or are sick. will take to vet in next week or so.

Thanks everyone for you kind comments. Lynne glad you like to hear my voice I've had this old thing laying around for years now.
This is my first attempt at posting a video bill or someone if it is too large can you please change it or tell me how so next time I will make sure it is the right size.

Looks like I will have a constant companion. This morning Pretty Bird wanted out and on my shoulder. Had to make him stay in his cage as I was in and out washing pads I keep under my Bird and Sugar Glider cages. After I got all the outside work done I let him out he got on my shoulder and rode all over while I vacuumed then put clothes in the dryer. I came here to check E-Mail and rest my back and legs some. He started talking so I pulled up my Web cam again and her really showed off watching himself the whole time. Hope I didn't drown him out he was so cute talking into the coffee cup and then the Microphone. I will try and find a toy mic for him he is such a pleasure and wants to be out and with me. The people that had him evidently just did not want to mess with him. If this video is too large please correct it tried to make it smaller.

I have renamed him Brat bird or art least that is what I am calling him as he is a BRAT here he is waiting for more coffee (he talks it to death but never drinks)

This is his favorite cup. He talks to the Willie under the toadstool and only to him tried to get a photo but he always sees me coming.

Here we are sharing lunch of mac and cheese.

And yes he is always on me even takes naps with me and helps keep the dogs in line. Loves Trent and Wolfman they all get along fine. Sorry that one is not too good took it with my phone camera.

He already takes cell phone over when I use it. Now will think about getting him his own Willie just hope he can't read this as he is on my hand watching the monitor as I type.
