granmudr granmudr Member Registered: 07/21/07 Posts: 1	Japanese Maple with curling leaves. I have a 3 year-old Japanese Maple which we decided to keep in a container in the house for one more year. We transplanted to a larger container with Miracle Gro potting soil. The leaves are turning brown starting at the outer tips and are curling. It is in a south facing bay window and had been very healthy until now. Can anyone give us some advice? granmudr

I've had some plants that would react to a transplant the same way. This may not be your case, but the plant is in a new home and is setting new roots,and the rest of the plant may suffer for a while untill the plant balances out... Don _________________________ Sometimes I wake up grouchy,other days I just let her sleep,while I'am outside in the garden she is counting sheep. (%$#@%*#&@) sorry honey,I didn't say that...honey put down that hoe... :(

maplecollector1 maplecollector1 Member Registered: 07/02/07 Posts: 4	Japanese maples cannot be grown indoors. Also make sure that you are not overwatering. Make sure your pot is dry between each watering. I would recommend planting your maples under a shade type tree to potect it from the direct Sun after approximately 1 p.m. A company specializing in heat tolerant Japanese maple trees is http://www.pacificcoastmaples.com The website has a FAQ's section on their toolbar to assist you.
