Can one lavender be split into two pieces and replanted like some other plants?

I am trying to be thrifty.. They are $15 a piece!

Yup, but it's best to divide them in fall if you try...I've lost a few when dividing in spring. Mind you if your lavender is older and kind of shrubby looking...you take a chance of killing it.
