I am craving cole slaw,, But I can never get it to taste like My Grandmother's. I remember she used sugar, milk and Mayo and vinegar? that's all I can remember,,

I use that but no Milk.
tiny bit of mustard.

We like it .. Put paprika on after it is all mixed.

I always hate to shred the cabbage. Here someone sent me white gloves with orange rubber dots on it to be skid proof.
I put one on to do coleslaw, It worked great. No more slipping an cutting my knuckles.

I use this one:
1 cup mayo
1/2 tsp vinegar
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp milk
1/2 tsp sugar
dash of garlic salt and paprika.

Sour Cream Slaw serves 8
1 small head cabbage, shredded--is that 4 cups??
2 TB sugar
2 TB chopped onion
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup dairy sour cream
1 tsp lemon juice.

Combine all & toss lightly.


Sweet & Sour Slaw serves 12

6 cups shredded cabbage--(1 medium head)
1 tsp salt
1-1/2 C (3 medium stalks) chopped celery
1/2 C chopped green pepper
------------------------------------
1-1/4 C sugar
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp mustard seed
1 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup water.

in lg bowl, sprinkle salt over cabbage.let stand 1 hr. squeese out liquid.
Add celery & grn pepper, set aside.

In medium saucepan combine remaining ingredients. bring to a boil. Boil 1 minute
Cool...then pour over cabbage.
Cover, and chill for several hours......May keep this slaw up to 2 weeks

I also have an oriental slaw that is easy to make too.
