So sorry you are achy today, Tam. Hopefully it will pass and not become anything!
I'm feeling healthy, just tired from my long week.

Morning everyone! Busy busy day for me today. We're leaving in about a half hour to take Joey to his basketball game, then when we get home I'm making a quick breakfast before we have to leave again to go to the girls basketball game. When we get home from that I'm going out for my run and then I have to drop off Mandy at her friends house. Then I'm stopping by a gluten free taste testing event to see what they have and then I'm coming home to make dinner. Whew, no rest for the wicked is what Aros always says. I finished my laundry last night, I just need to put it away, so at least I don't have that on top everything else and it's all fun stuff that I'm busy with today. I much prefer to be busy with fun stuff. Tomorrow I'm planning to do some gardening, yay! Gorgeous weekend for us and I'm going to take advantage of it.

Yes Tina- first one will be the 10th- second is the 24 .. they do one eye at a time... I am kind of nervous but know it will be so much an improvement for me--- I waited a bit to long so am probably legally blind at the moment so life is kind of a pain- I can see close up but not more than 3 ft away now .... and what I do see is very blurry... no fun at all, but I can read and see the tv kind of... and as long as I enlarge my comp font's I can see here too...LOL! so thats the important stuff.... I'm still going in slow motion; I never did perk up today and in fact, I keep dozing off! Tomorrow will be better. Nana Sherri ~ I am really anticipating you doing so much better after your surgery as scary as it is. I think you will be delighted with the vast improvement. I know I was when I had mine done at age 42. Just take it easy while you are healing and don't lift anything heavy. Merme

Right now I have soft sugar cookies in the icebox chilling. So I get to sit here & visit until they are cold enough to roll out & bake. is anybody home????

Stopping in for a minute while I have one. The kids all won their games today, yay! Traffic on the way home from the girls game was horrendous. It took us almost an hour to get home and it should have taken 15, ugh. It was such a beautiful day that everyone was going somewhere I guess. It was just about 60 today and bright sunshine, felt like spring came early. Tomorrow is going to be the same and I'm really looking forward to getting my hands into some dirt, it's been so long! Since traffic was so bad I was late getting to my run which means I missed out on the gluten free taste testing event. Oh well, maybe I'll just check out the shop next time I'm in that area and see what they have. I've got three meatloaves baking in the oven right now. We're having green beans and mac and cheese to go with it, yummy! Amanda's at her friends house and Joey and Ashley are passed out because the crazy kids stayed up til 6am and then had me waking them up at 9:30. They were off school all week so their sleep schedules are a bit off. Not sure what we're doing tonight, maybe we'll rent a movie. If the boys are just going to play video games then me and Ashley will go get ourselves a girly movie to watch.

Good morning...still snowing out there.
I hope it snows lots, Tamara so that they have to call your DH in to work to clean it up.
I wish, but when they give them time off it comes with a mandatory slip...they are job sharing right now. He is home for two weeks for sure.

Hi, Everybody! I'm home! We had a terribly busy morning. And, we added grocery shopping to the list of "must do's". I must be outta my mind. I went to Wal-Mart. I save so much money there, I wish I could stand the store enough to shop there regularly. However, we don't have a Wal-Mart in any of the local towns, so it is a drive to get to one and then you have to put up with all the whacky elements once you are there! But I did get a couple of cases of soup to donate to the food pantry in a nearby town. We stopped at the pantry on the way home and were able to drop them off. Usually we donate at our church which distributes from there in the city but every month or so we like to donate to this other pantry in a different town. One time Nana's11 told me her grocery store keeps a food donation box right there in front of the store so people can drop off items on their way out! How convenient is that!! I wore the kid out, too! Sometimes he finds it hard to keep up with mom! Merme

Wow, you had a busy morning. Our grocery store keeps a box out for donations also Merme. Certainly is easier...I always donate baby food. Oh, I know the Wal-Mart thing to well, it's a 40 minute drive for me...but I try to get there once every month...even if I tag along with someone...you'd be amazed how people will take you places if you offer to look after their child in your cart for them to shop.

Baby food! What a great idea!!!! We often donate diapers and wipes but I never thought of baby food! Thanks!! I think half of my problem with Wal-Mart is that I simply do not like shopping in big stores.

The reason for the baby food is that we have alot of trouble with our food bank~the workers seem to think they are allowed to help themselves...apparently baby items are never touched. So that's how I came to that decision.

Good morning! I've never had okra either, heard it's good but I don't know how to cook it (yes, I know I could learn) and I'm too afraid to try it. Does it taste like anything? I've got the electric skillet heating up right now to start on breakfast. The way my kitchen is wired I have to cook breakfast in steps otherwise I trip the breaker. I can only run one electrical appliance at a time so I cook the hashbrowns, stick them in the oven, then make the toast. Eggs benedict today and I found some english muffins for me, hopefully they're good. It's the same brand of the bread I buy so I'm guessing they'll be fine. After breakfast I'm going to grab my bucket, gloves, and hat and head outside, I'm so excited!

I'm excited for you, Cheryl. spring is so nice. Okra has a good taste but I find it kind of slimy. So I will eat it but when a recipe calls for it I will often not bother.

It happens in the living room too. If we have the space heater running in our bedroom and we turn on one in the living room it trips the breaker. They weren't as good at wiring in the 60's as they are now. We rent and it's not such a big deal that we feel it's dangerous. Our landlord knows about it but he wants to remodel the whole unit and can't do that with us living here so we get a discount on rent for having an unmodeled and outdated unit.

Okra is very good, but as Tina pointed out, it is quite slimy. It is often used as a thickening agent in soups and stews but I do not care for it that way. The best way (I think) for eating okra is to cut it small, bread it, and then deep fry it. That eliminates much of the sliminess. You can even buy it in bags already breaded and ready for frying.
Okra is often used in Cajun cooking, particularly gumbo. I never put it in my gumbo, preferring to make File Gumbo. File is a thickening agent made out of sassafras leaves and isn't the least bit slimy.
You be careful with that electricity situation, Cheryl. Overloading breakers can be a very dangerous thing.
