Actually, they never really leave; they just change their foraging habits. In Winter, Waxwings head into large tall trees like Hackberries and strip them before working their way down to waist-high bushes in spring. I'll check across the road from my house and see if they are there in the next few days. It is snowing heavily here right now. Nice picture!

Good job ID'ing them from the underside. It's not always easy to ID a bird from underneath. On Waxwings, though, that yellow band on the end of the tail is a dead giveaway. I've sent your little Warbler to Texas' BEST bird researchers to verify that's what you've got. Birders World forum, has as its DAILY chatters many National Geographic bird photographers and researchers, who LOVE to help people with their simplest to most complex questions. They are VERY friendly and helpful, and many are as crazy as I am.

That sounds Like a fun Group Thorney thanks so much for the extended help! At first I didn't think it was cedar wax wings but for me the head and the "mask" was a give away. I'll be checking back to see what 'they' think the warbler is for sure!
