Question.

1. Would LEDS work well on rainforest-derived seedlings. I think the LED is a 225 watt panel. The seedlings are going to be in a glass container (terrarium). If thats too powerful for seedlings in glass let me know

2. What would plants of this sort need added to the soil? Got some standard topsoil from the gardening center. Figured they'd need a different mixture than the cactus mix I'm going to make. Trying to get some successful rainforest plants grown from seed to beyond

I don't know enough about LEDS to answer for positive.
Plants need light in the blue and red spectrum. I've been told that they can produce colored LEDS now so I'd bet that they LED plant lights somewhere why

The floor of most rainforest is covered by falling leaves and plants that die back every year... and year after year they turn to compost, feeding the forest's plant life.
I'd mix your potting soil with compost and a little vermiculite.

Thanks a ton!! How much vermiculite added to the soil if I'm going to use a mixture of the two?

Also, is february-march the best time to plant if i decide to start from seed? i think i remember reading that they want to be sprouting for the spring season
