Does anyone have one of these plants? It's a bromiliad and drinks water like a fish. Has gorgeous green, pink and yellow blossoms on long pink spikes. I love this plant but it seems to always have some dry, dead leaves. I can pull them out when they dry completely but wonder is there is another way to handle this especially when it's only the tips of the leaves that dry.

Also, does anyone have the botanical name for this?

Queen's tears, Billbergia nutans, is one of the ugliest plants in my garden if you are going by leaf type. It always looks to be a sickly color and mottled. But that is the type of leaf it is. It sounds like yours may be about as healthy as they get.
If you are growing as a houseplant they need lots of warmth and lots of light. Slow down the watering for a period in early winter.
