The best way to propagate Raspberries is to 'layer" the tips of the canes by pinning them to the ground until Spring when the cane will root and produce a new cane. When it starts to show good growth, you can snip the mother cane and transplant the new plant.

that may be good if the plants were already at my place and i just wanted a dozen or so plants.I am wanting to start somewhere between 500-1000.alot of nurseries start althea and plants like that by sticking shoots off of 1yr. growth in the ground in feb. or mar.But do not know any that grows ras. and wondered if this would work.Doing tip layers is alright for a homeowner but i want to start doing several and for resale

Hello Treegrower1 --- I was looking for the same information about raspberries. I found this place you might get your answers here..... http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/hil/hil-8700.html

this is good information if you want to root cuttings and not have to do it in another person's yard where they live and you appreciate the cuttings, but do not want to bother them for their yard space......hope this helps.......CArol
