Ok, I screwed up when I planted peppers this last spring. I thought I would remember which one I planted but... So now I've got two varieties that are new to me and I can't tell which one is which. Their peppers are about the same size and shape. One has a grassy flavor that wasn't nothing special. As it ripened it got sweet but had no heat. The skin was tougher on this variety. The second had some heat and was pleasant both green and ripe.

I would prefer to plant more of the second variety but I can't tell which one is Anaheim and which one is Big Jim. Any ideas?

Looks like the only way you can tell the difference is by tasting each one.

Big Jim is hotter than Anaheim.

Scoville heat range:

NuMex Big Jim...1500-2500

Anaheim.............500-2500
