I got Maxi Bananagrams for his birthday but really it is a good game for anyone who likes word games... and I think it is particularly useful for families where people of various ages would be playing together.
It is similar to Scrabble EXCEPT that each player plays independently, making their own words and grid. Scoring isn't important. Which makes it wonderful where a teen might be playing with a 7 year old, etc... so juvenile words wouldn't cost the player a loss. The idea is to use up all your tiles in your own grid before the other player does. So accuracy is the issue.
Up here, Target carries it for $14. The game comes packaged in a bright yellow Banana which is sorta cute, too.

But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

I found two additional games to go with Bananagrams.
One is Apple Letters which is packaged in a cute canvas zippered apple.
The other is Pairs In Pears which, you guessed it, is packed in a cute pear.
When Maxi and I play Bananagrams, we play by the rules one game. Then we play an alternate game we invented.
We turn all the tiles face up on the table and one person starts spelling out either a song title, movie title, etc., OR a famous phrase from a song or movie. The other person tries to guess what is being spelled before the player completes the sentence. We have fun with that, too.
I also really like the way these games are packaged... very portable!
