Hello-long time visitor first time poster.

I got an Aloe Vera plant at an estate sale. It is enormous and looks to be in need of serious transplant. I am afraid to try to split these two up and put them into seperate containers. How do I get them apart? Should I use a knife? Should I try to break them apart? What size planter should I use? If I try to keep them together, I would need a pot the size of a coffee table that holds upwards of 500 lbs of dirt. Please help me, Id hate to see this old beautiful plant die.

I would take them out of the pot by slapping the sides to loosen the dirt, and I would imagine the 2 plants will seperate on their own, plant them in seperate pots 1 size bigger than it came out of. Others will have more advice for you...

Thanks Christine. Would you (or anyone) know how much of the gnarly stem I should bury? I am worried that if I bury too much of that it will rot like tree bark would. How deep should I plant them once seperated?

Thanks again for any/all help on this.
