I was thinking as I will not be able to give my garden the attention it deserves this year---would it be out of line for me to 'mulch' my herb and asparagus beds??--I couldn't properly prepare them this spring and my circumstance will not improve until late fall or possibly early next spring----

and as I was mulching my flower beds it occured to me to be the perfect solution--but I would like some opinion on it before I actually do the deed.

any advice would be welcome

oregano, thyme, and the mints won't particularly like being mulched. Also things that reseed have a harder time doing so if they are mulched. Especially if it is the large piece bark that you are using. Other than that I don't know why you couldn't.
