Creeping Charlie (I HATE this stuff, looks nice far away, but smells when you step on it or after a rain. It's going to get into my flower bed, so I'm trying to control it. I want to make a bed in the middle of the creeping charlie because I don't have any more space)

Great pics.

Oh good God...Goutweed. Hope you know how invasive it is. If I would have planted it in a ditch or something it would of been great but I planted right into my flower beds

That being said...I do love your foilage plants. Creeping Charlie is pretty...I have it only growing in one spot in my yard.

I have lots of goutweed - my neighbour brings it over and I put it in for fill -it looks great!

Well, of course, I don't put it in near anything it might intrude upon.

The goutweed is my neighbour's in between our two houses there's a path about 6', then his patch of goutweed on one side, and my side garden on the other.

Do you want any creeping charlie? It's taking over literally half the yard...I'll be more than glad to dig you as much as you want and send you some...

that is so sweet kenny. i can't grow hostas, too hot and i don't have a shade garden, yet. and the others i haven't tried yet. i have a creeping charlie in the house in a hanging basket. i think part of it is going to go in the yard to see what happens to it.

i will be looking into the others, i like the way they look.

I had snow in the mountains at another house. I like it. I have a great place for it in my shade garden. Maybe we could trade for some this fall. I really can't take on any more projects right now. I'm still fighting the hill of dirt I bought. But I'm getting there one 5 gallon bucket at a time lol.

I got lotsa' creeping charlie - ha ha!

Some of it looks good just 'creeping' over a rock or a curb and I don't have the heart to dig it out.

My father-in-law (long since passed on) used to keep a perfect lawn and perfect hedges on Niantic Avenue in Don Mills.

He used to rant about creeping charlie - just hated it!

He'd be horrified to know that I cultivated such things at goutweed - ha ha!

jiffy, DO NOT plant the creeping charlie outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in your warmer temp area, it'll take over in absolutely no time! and you can't get rid of it once it's there...

i didn't know it was so invasive & hard to get rid of and let it grow around the base of the tree in the back...i wanted to make a bed there and since it was easy to pull up, i just let it go so i wouldn't have to deal with pulling grass up.

BIG mistake! it's all through the yard now...even grew through/under the mortar of the garage wall and was growing inside the garage.

do not, do not, DO NOT plant it in your yard!!!

Good point Joclyn! The ground freezes here and its cold for a good 3-4 months, and it manages to get bigger and bader each season so imagine if theres no freezing to kill it to the ground...oh the atrocity! oh the horror! oh the weeding!

oh my inside the garage? wow. ok, note to self, do not plant outside. i'll just put the hanging basket out then.

of course, it cant be any worse than the briars. if i thought it would choke them out, i'd risk it, but NOTHING chokes out briars.

I hate that creeping charlie too. It's everywhere every spring no matter what I do. I spray it with roundup every year but it comes right back. It's horrible.

This is a nice thread, Kenny.

Diane, I love the striped canna leaves.

The longer I garden, the more I appreciate and love the steady foliage plants. They certainly are the backbone of the garden, aren't they?

Here's some of mine.
