Been trying for a week or two to get pictures of these LARGE members of the Flycatcher family, the Eastern Kingbird. They are fairly common in Summer. They LOVE to perch on power lines and chatter their heads off making a rapid, machine gun-like burst of, "WICK-ah, WICK-ah, Wick-ah". They are a fun bird to watch and listen to. I call them the "Batman Bird", due to the black "cowl" effect on top of their heads against the white lower part of the head. Note also, the white band on the end of the tail, especially noticeable on the bird on the left. Your assignment: Get out, look for, observe, and photograph these birds. Look on power lines, especially around parkng lots and shopping centers.

Dang hummers are a blast.......I watched 2 of them practice take off and landings last nite......Guess tonite I will get the camcorder on them..LOL
for winter viewing.
