This is a picture of one of my little friends, Dolly. She loves to sit in the kitchen window sill. She's the sweetest little thing on earth. :)

This picture is of two more of my little friends, Thunder Pidgey and Dumpty (the dove). Thunder Storm was attacked by something (cat or hawk) and this picture was taken after she recovered. I have 2 ringneck doves, Humpty and Dumpty. I have some more cute pictures of Dumpty if you want to see them. :)

What kind of dove is that FIRST picture. It does not look familiar to me. It looks like a very dark White-Winged Dove.

And have you seen your namesake, the Resplendent Quetzal? That IS the MOST beautiful bird in the world.

Yes, Dolly is a white winged dove. I don't know why she is so dark; I've had several people ask me that, but I don't have a clue why she's darker than the rest of her kind.

I love birds a whole lot. Each one has their own personality and they make such WONDERFUL pets! I can't believe how much sweetness can be wrapped up in a little bunch of feathers. I wish you could meet Dolly! She LOVES people and acts like she is one. She's such a small little thing compared to us, but acts like she's just as big and deserves just as much attention and just as many privilages as we deserve. She is so unafraid of anything that we do! --And she chases feet, socks, and shoes as fast as her own little feet will carry her! She sits in the open window for hours on end and will only fly into the house to bother my students. She has this thing with guitar. If someone is playing guitar she has to sit on their SHOE. No other spot and not in that spot unless they're playing GUITAR. She could care less about fiddle.

No, I've never seen my namesake, only a picture of the bird. Its face is SO, SO cute! The quetzal's eyes are very facinating.

Tell me when to stop. ;)

This is a picture of me with my dove, Popeye, while he was still in the process of healing. Some kids at school found him and brought him to me. He was scalped. He lived, but ended up losing his eyes. He is a very chubby little boy and the softest bird around. He's very sweet and coos to me with his little wings a-twitterin'.

This is one of my pigeons, Pirate. He nearly lost his leg and I was afraid that I'd have to amputate it (hence the name "Pirate"), but I was able to save it. He lost his toes, but he was able to use his leg to some degree. I lost Pirate to a cat a couple of months ago...

You ARE quite stunning, Alice and I LOVE your Pirate picture. I have ALWAYS loved pirates. I even spent a month on Grand Cayman ISland in the 60's Where I saw a lot of Cannons and other pirate artifacts just lying around. The islanders across the road from the house I was staying at had salvaged old cannons and were using them for FENCE POSTS!, believe it or not.

Lori Faith is a very sweet lady and a professional photographer that I met in March while I was at the Festival of the West in Chandler. She takes BEAUTIFUL pictures (especially of horses!!). The pictures that I posted are definately not her pictures (though I wish I could take them as good of quality!), but she did take some pictures of me when I played at the Festival and at the Mesa Performing Arts Center. She has them posted on her website. The pictures of me at this link start on the third page, fourth row down. There are 10 or so there. http://www.photobiz.com/portfolio/gallerylogin.cfm?eventID=133726

Here is a direct link to her website where you can see some of her horse pictures. They are gorgeous! http://www.photographybyfaith.com/

Alice, I noticed that you are an accomplished musician. My family have been music fanatics for generations. My grandmother was a concert pianist and soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra as a young woman (she was also a Flapper then, she used to dance The Charleston for me when I went to visit her.) My father blew out his eardrum playing trumpet in a state competition in High School. He also plays 5-String banjo, guitar, accordion, bagpipes, piano, dulcimer, and probably several other instruments. My sister plays trombone, guitar, 5-string banjo, and bagpipes. I cut a finger off so I am limited and DON'T play the banjo or bagpipes, but I do play Trombone, guitar, bass, and piano. We have ALL studied all aspects of music intensely. I have over 4,000 MP3's on my computer and add a dozen or so almost every day. I bird by ear and often compare bird songs in musical terms. I even taught our resident Nortehrn Mockingbird the opening 4 notes of Beethoven's Fifth.

What an unusual pigeon. I got a really good shot of a pigeon here in Nashville, TN yesterday. It's on THIS forum under the title, "Abraxas".
