You will probably laugh at this one.....My sis from Ohio said I brought you an asiatic lily to try.....I said I hate those things......She insisted.. Now look at me grow>>>>>>lol They are awesome......She move back here now, and I took her some of mine this morning......As well as africian violet and a nice plnt of Rosemary....i am allergic to. She gave me 3 cups of assylum seeds to grow. She had bought a box of 11,000 assylum seeds......I never heard of that.
Brecks e-mailed me to tell me today is the last day I can use by 25.00 off coupon. I am way tempted but my friend told me they have garden wagons at Aldi's for 24.00 and that's a good deal if they are strong. I'm going to go check in a little while.
I don't do wal-mart anymore. That have stuff that is substandard and I'll go miles out of my way not to use them. They put broken stuff back on the shelf and their store brand isn't checked for quality. You won't believe some of the stuff I've gotten from there in the past. None of it has been worth what I paid for it. So I don't go there anymore.
Your right postage is expensive and getting more so. It's the oil companies. And I hope the democrates get in and do something about them. They are way out of line. I hope the government regulates the heck out of them. Right to the point that they make no profit at all. That would teach them.
Defintely catalogs are for very special stuff that isn't locally available.
I have never liked Gurneys--they sent my a dead clump birch.--I had always wanted one-& finally convinced DH to buy me one--well needless to say I did not have one after all.
When I order from the catelogs I try to do so only when they a have free shipping offers going on---
I don't care for wal-mart either but if it is the best price what is one to do. what I do do with them though is--if it is not just what i want I go elseware---and when at all possible I tell the outside contractors that very thing.---you would be surprised how many of them are there stocking shelves & ask you if they can help you find something.--those are the ones I tell that to.

I haven't had much luck with live plants from catalogs, except for my strawberries. The bare root plants I've ordered in the past never made it. I just order seeds if anything and try to find plants locally.
I don't shop at WalMart much either. Ours is too crowded. I like Target but they don't have much garden stuff - no plants at all.

It is my regrets to inform you, Gurney just replace 3 helleboros plants that didnt grow last year.....Day after I got them, my others showed up......NOw I feel like a theif......However it was all shipped free......Now penna has to pay taxes on orders , so I shy away from catalogs.
I juat came from Walmarts....they have the most marvelouse photos .. I took my cd in and made them for 28cents...........THat isnt pricey.. If it is cheaper , I am the creeper...(Into walmat)

I know they would replace the tree Barb--but then I would have had to go thru the whole rigamarole--and I would have likley gotten another dead tree--so I just left well enough alone--and also---no more purchasing from gurneys here.

Well I have to rearrange my thinking about the fence bed by the street. I can't put the azaleas there. they would get way to much sun. So now I'm considering the area around my central stand of shade trees. But, I'm not sure about spacing. Right now the plants are tiny but of course they aren't going to stay that way forever. And I don't want to block the view higher up the slope. Hummmmmmmm, I'll have to consider this for awhile.
Now I'm thinking I'll put the azaleas on the mound near to the sport evergreens so that the needles from the evergreens can add acid to the soil for the azaleas. I'm not sure yet though. It's still in the planning stages. A lot will depend on how well the evergreens will manage the move. They may be to big to be transplanted. You should see the root on my favorite one. It's huge!!!
Anyway to day I ordered 5 peonies and with the white ones I am getting from a friend and the red one I already have I'm doing really well on getting the peonies that I like. I still want a yellow double bloosom and an orange bloosom peony but that's all from that species lol.
I'm planning on putting 4 of them in the foundation bed where the house infront is setback alittle. That bed is about 20 feet long and about 2 feet wide. If I put them at the very front of the bed and 4 feet apart I think I can get them all in there. That means from mid to late may that bed would be filled with white pink and red blooms. That should be very pretty. But since it blooms about the same time as the iris I don't think I'll put any of the irises in that bed. I don't want them clashing lol.
Looking forward to hearing the updates! Excitement abounds.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

tk ist sounds heavenly....... :ding: Where do you get the colored peonies ? Orange white?yellow
The white is comming from two different places one is a trade with Penny and one is from Brecks.
For the orange and the yellow I'm going to purchase the seeds from a company that specializes in peonies. It will take years to get them from seeds to sprouts but It's the only way I can afford it.
The reds I'm getting from Brecks.
Pictures, I keep forgetting to get one of those disposable cameras. Keep reminding me please. I would like to have before and during the process pictures too. I don't think I'm the kind of person who is ever finished lol.
I'm beside myself with heartburn lol. It really hasn't hit me yet that I'll own this place myself. I'm sure one day I'll wake up and realize that I have a home but right now it's all organizing and planning but not really real you know? I'm sure I will be excited. Right now I'm more scared I guess. It's a big responsibility to own a home. I've never done this on my own before.
Your taking a Huge Gulp.....I know how exciting that is . All for the best. I can remember you talking of this day for years now.. And I was starting to wonder if it would ever happen. Sounds like you did well......
Some day get a cheap digital and join the fun. I liked the Fuji for the simple cradle you drop it into and it charges....I still use it and canon.....
4 more days and the computer will be disconnected for you .HUH Will you still have the same server there?
Yes the same server with all of it's viruses and problems. Until the day I can't get on the internet this is it.
Expect that I'll be hooked up either the evening of the 29th or the morning of the 30th. I think I would go through withdrawals if I stayed away any longer.
Disposable camera, yes I have to remember to get that. I also need to put in a change of address. I'm forgetting everything lately. Just stress, I cry alot when I think of the people I'll be leaving but it has to be done. Glad you all will still be here.
tK Cry on our shoulders anytime you want. Were all good listeners. Everyone has moved sometime. So we all start from scratch again.. Just like starting a new job....First day is Ouchy..... :ding: Do you know anyone at all where your moving to?
