The yard that we have is pretty strange.. (see my poor attempt at a paint picture)

I am really curious because it is COVERED in moss.. on the hill it's VERY short solid ground cover and the further down you go into the lawn it gets deeper..

If you stand all the way to the left (before it goes WAY down into the creek) you're standing on close to 3 inch deep squishy moss

I have really big plans for the yard.. including a nice double pond, and vegetable and fruit gardens..

I'm curious because somewhere I have a feeling that the moss means we have crazy run off of water.. and we're pretty full of clay also..

I have a feeling that this means my dreams are ka-put..

Could I tier the anuals in level stone type tiers on the hill or would that be too much water run off?

Am i in BIG trouble?

We are a zone 5..

Moss.... I have that stuff on a smaller scale in my greenhouse this year too. I know it comes from too high moisture, but how can I get rid of it without doing what you told fathom_this to do with each tiny pot and plant. Right now I'm trying to let the plants dry out without harming the tiny seedlings.

Sorry to steal you post fathom_this but my problem was almost like yours.
