These shots are not great because of the distance and through the window and it was raining out. I love seeing these birds, they are fascinating to watch hammering the ground in search of ants. Eat them all , I say!!

Yes, that is a Northern Flicker, Yellow-Shafted species. The lack of any Malars (Moustache) shows that this is a female. I have NEVER photographed a Flicker before although I have seen hundreds.

I do like to see them flying - the yellow really stands out underneath their wings!
