emdeGardener2 emdeGardener2 Great Gardener Registered: 02/22/08 Posts: 942 Loc: Merced County,California	How is coriander or cilantro grown? My mom buys it to use in cooking (she buys the leaves ). _________________________ Growing a vegetable garden is worth it!

tkhooper tkhooper TGH Valedictorian Garden Helper Registered: 03/09/05 Posts: 10312 Loc: triangle, virginia	I sow the seeds indoors in little yogurt cups and place in an east window. Once they get enough true leaves on them to stand a transplant I put them outside. As long as it is two weeks after the average frost date for my location. That's about 15 April around here. Plant them in a full sun location and let the plants dry out between waterings. Plant them every two weeks or so to stagger the harvest. Cilantro are the leaves and coriander are the seeds. It's an easy plant to grow and it is an annual in my zone. _________________________

thorns thorns Member Registered: 06/06/04 Posts: 46 Loc: New Orleans,LA	If your winters are mild like mine, zone 9, its best to direct sow corriander sometime in October. Grows like crazy here, finally going to seed sometime in April.
